Orientation to Applied Industrial Microbiology
This module is aimed at establishing the basic understanding of all the participants about various concepts such as understanding the Contamination and contamination control , Role of a microbiologist, Instrumentation and microbiological methods and Sampling- Methods & Practices.
Pharmaceutical Microbiology: Quality Systems
This module covers Quality Systems (ICH Q10), Quality Risk Management System (ICH Q9), Good Documentation Practices, Overview on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Concepts of Qualification, Validation & Calibration, Method Development & Validation.
Pharmaceutical Microbiology: EMP & Bioburden
This module provides insights of Process Templates, Personal & Surface Monitoring <USP 1116>, Generation of Process and Facility Air, Microbiology Examination of Air <USP 1116> Pharmaceutical water and its generation <USP 1231>, Water Testing for Bioburden & Specific Microorganisms <USP 61, 62>
Pharmaceutical Microbiology: Testing for Sterility and Endotoxin
This module covers Sterilization Methods for Pharmaceutical products <USP 1211>, Autoclave Validation and Filter Validation <PDA Tech Report 48, 26>, Sterility Testing <USP 71>, Sterility Testing Failure and Investigation, Endotoxin – origin and impact, Endotoxin Testing <USP 85>
Practical Trainings
Hands on experiments around:
- Day 1: Media Preparation, Sterilization, Plating (pour)
- Day 2: Enumeration Methods – Serial Dilution, Plating (pour), Membrane Filtration, Plating

Determining Microbiological Quality of Food and Beverage <FSSAI and BIS>
This module include Overview of food spoilage contamination and food borne diseases, principles of Food Preservation, Microbiological Analysis of food, Principles and Applications of HACCP in Food Industry, FSSAI & BIS standards and regulations, Microbiological Analysis of Carbonated ad Alcoholic Beverages.
Diagnostic Microbiology
This module handles with Introduction to in-vitro Diagnostics (IVD), Safety and Specimen Management, Conventional and Rapid methods for Microbial Detection, Immunological and Molecular Biological Methods for detection and identification, Microbial identification and Anti-biotic Sensitivity Testing, Laboratory methods in basic Virology

Program Fee & Scholarship
The BITS Biocon Certificate Program in Applied Industrial Microbiology is being made available to students at a 40% cost of the program.
The Biocon Merit Scholarship of 60% of the program cost offered to all selected students will enable them to pursue this one-of-its-kind program at an affordable cost.
Student Share: INR 48,000 + 18% GST
Student Facilities
At Biocon Academy, the students have to go through a rigorous curriculum so that by the time their course comes to an end, they are industry-ready and sought after by multiple companies. We encourage them to remain focussed and excel in everything they do. For the benefit of the students, we assist them with a couple of facilities to ensure they just focus on the curriculum.

Transport
We understand that commuting to different locations for industry training can get challenging especially when students have to arrange for it themselves. Therefore, students are provided with group transport facilities from Biocon Academy to different training locations and then back to the Academy.
Meals
Throughout the course, Biocon Academy students are provided with nutritious and sumptuous lunch at the Biocon Academy premises. They also have access to beverage vending machines for tea, coffee, and milk throughout the day.
Accommodation
Students come to pursue studies at Biocon Academy from different parts of the country and upon their request, we provide options of nearby paying guests and hostel accommodations based on the previous student choices. Kindly note that students and their parents/guardians alone are responsible for any decision taken regarding their stay.
